Eliminating Stress

I am sure you are all aware of the many diseases and health defects that plague the black community and even more specifically, black women. We tend to be more susceptible to disease and have a higher chance of fatality as a result. The reason for this is not because genetically, this is our destiny but more due to the fact that we tend to have more external factors that create stress in our lives. It is proven fact that stress lowers our immune system and as a result, our bodies are not fighting the diseases that plague our lives. Due to the fact that many of us are working women, we do not put an emphasis on leisure activities that contribute to eliminating stress. Ladies, we must set aside 20-30 minutes a day in order to de-stress. Find an activity that you enjoy and commit to it starting three times a week and gradually integrate it in to your daily routine. Here are some ideas:

  • Running, Jogging
  • Swimming 
  • Bike, Elliptical 
  • Yoga
  • Meditation 
  • Walking 
  • Hiking
Remember don't over schedule your activities and make time for YOU!!
